| Dining at Prospect Hill Plantation is an unusual culinary experience. The Sheehan family is continuing the tradition that goes back to 1874 when the Overton family first began taking in guests after the Civil War. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy a complimentary refreshment while acquainting themselves with fellow diners by a crackling fire, or stroll the grounds or explore the wine cellar. Since 1977 the dining experience at Prospect Hill has begun the same way ---- the innkeeper's bell announces the start of a four-course repast created by the inn's talented culinary staff. After the innkeeper offers a simple blessing, warm bread just out of the oven arrives and the meal begins. Just sit back and enjoy leisurely dining and good fellowship. Menu selections are chosen from the finest of fresh regional ingredients and feature creative, original recipes with a distinct European influence.
