3. Embark on a Wine Tour
Don’t leave wine country without imbibing! Autumn is the perfect time to meander around some of our favorite local wineries and vineyards like Jefferson, King Family, Pippin Hill Farms, and Cooper, just to name a few. Every location has its own unique vibe and flavor. Find a new favorite!
4. Take a Picturesque Walk or Hike
Lucky for us, our Inn is located just an hour west of Shenandoah National Park. (Insider Tip: Free National Parks Day is November 11, 2019!) If you’re up for a quick day trip, venture to this gorgeous landmark and take in the views, which are extra stunning during the fall. With over 500 hiking trails, we’re sure you’ll find one that equally delights and challenges you. Some of our other favorite trails for a hike include Humpback Rock and Crabtree Falls on the Blue Ridge Parkway. If you’re in search of something a bit more leisurely but just as beautiful and energizing, walk the Saunders-Monticello Trail.
5. Savor a Fabulous Fall Meal
Our elegant restaurant is the perfect place for a candlelit date night during your stay. Wine and dine in style as you enjoy our gourmet cuisine made from fresh, local ingredients. Make a reservation. You also have a delicious full breakfast to look forward to each morning of your stay. When you feel like dining out and about, try Christians Pizza or Bodo’s Bagels. When you’re ready for a drink, indulge in one at Pro Re Nata, one of our favorite breweries.
6. Pick & Patch
Fall isn’t fall until you spend some time at the pumpkin patch and apple orchard! Visit Carters Mountain Orchard, located just 20 miles from the Inn and featuring gorgeous views and acres of beautiful Virginia countryside. Pick your own apples, stroll the property, and choose your own pumpkins. Don’t forget to grab a donut before you leave too!
7. Attend the Montpelier Hunt Races
If you will be in town on November 2, 2019, don’t miss the incredible Montpelier Hunt Races! If you’ve never attended a horse race, you’re missing out. Seeing these majestic animals compete is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Purchase tickets ahead of time.
8. Discover Local Arts
Get to know our beloved area and feel like a local with a visit to the Artisans Studio Tour, November 9-10, 2019. Browse dozens of unique creations by talented local artists in their own work spaces! This year, over 40 artists will participate. And speaking of browsing, antiquing at the wonderful Ruckersville Art and Antiques Gallery never disappoints. Find a special treasure to take home.
9. Attend a UVA Game in Charlottesville
